Westar: Enhanced Chemiluminescence Detection (ECL) Kits with Improved Sensivity and Stability
Westar products are a range of complete, ready-to-use kits for the horseradish peroxidase-based chemiluminescence detection of immobilised proteins (Western Blot) and immobilised nucleic acids (Southern and Northern Blot).
WESTAR kits offer the following advantages over conventional ECL reagents:
- Outstanding Sensitivity: Kits range from 8 to 150 times more sensitive than those based on phenolic chemiluminescence enhancers
- Cost Effective: use 50- to 100-fold less antibody than with conventional ECL
- Long Signal Duration: 6h to 24 h signal duration
- Versatile Signal Detection: The chemiluminescent signal used in Westar substrates can be detected either by film or by digital cameras based on CCD sensors
- Safer: None of the components used in Westar formulations has been reported to be hazardous to human health
- More Stable: The shelf life of all Westar stock reagents exceeds 1 year at 2-8 °C. The working solutions, obtained by mixing the two components of the kits in a one-to-one ratio, are stable at room temperature for either 24 hours (Westar ETA C and XT) or 8 hours (Westar Supernova)
